Capture your own context with notes

Editable markdown notes: your durable work surface alongside documents and chats.

Notes are the editable surface in docAnalyzer. Documents are read-only after upload; notes are where you write your own material: meeting summaries, decision logs, working drafts, distillations of what a Focus told you. Notes are first-class sources, so they can ground future chats too.

Create a note

Three ways:

  • From scratch: on the notes page, click "New note" and start typing.
  • From a chat answer: in any Focus or Ask docAnalyzer answer, click "Save as note". The answer text becomes a new note in your workspace, citations and all.
  • By pasting markdown: paste markdown into a new note; structure, headings, tables, code blocks all come through.

The editor is a full WYSIWYG markdown surface (built on Milkdown): headings, lists, tables, code blocks, inline formatting. Markdown round-trips faithfully, so you can export the note's source and edit it elsewhere if you prefer.

Notes as sources

A note is a source in its own right. Add a note to a dataset and a Focus can quote from it, just like it quotes from documents. This closes the loop between analysis and reuse: a Focus produces an answer → you save it as a note → you include the note in a new Focus to build on it.

The chat answer carries its citations into the saved note. They remain clickable deep links after the note is edited, so you can still jump back to the source page, section, or cell.

Co-work on a note

Co-work is the chat mode bound to a note. Open Co-work on any note and the AI edits the note directly as you converse: tightening prose, restructuring, drafting new sections, rewriting tone. The conversation and the note sit side by side; every turn is small and reversible.

Co-work is what notes are for as much as anything else. The pattern: save a Focus answer → open Co-work on it → refine until it says what you mean.

Multi-user editing (Team / Enterprise)

On Team and Enterprise plans, notes support live collaborative editing: multiple seats can edit the same note at once, with cursors visible.

Storage and limits

Notes count toward your total storage quota the same way documents do. The cap is plan-driven; check your plan settings.
